•  Work with clients to identify instructional needs and assist them through approving instructional design and signing off on deliverables. Create storyboards for Web-based training. Develop auxilliary blended learning and classroom learning materials. Edit work of other instructional designers. Write audio scripts, work with recording studio, and direct voice talent. Work with developers to implement Web-based design. Serve as a "creative spark" in team design meetings.

•  Taught American Management Association business classes such at Communications Skills for Managers and First Line Supervision.

Safeco Insurance Company, Seattle, WA                1989 - 2003
Instructional Designer

•  Worked within a cross-functional team of professionals including subject matter experts from the field, marketing product managers, and a server-side technician to design and implement a new approach to Web-based training at Safeco.

•  Developed six robust E-school modules using Macromedia Studio MX, RoboDemo, and SnagIt.

•  Developed and delivered an interactive product launch Webcast series which reached 2,124 participants in insurance agencies nationwide.

•  Created five major PowerPoint-based programs for in-house clients to meet a wide range of specific needs. Developed accompanying leader's guides, kits, or detailed notes for presenters.

•  Wrote and maintained twelve different self-study courses about insurance contracts and developed auxiliary continuing education exams for these courses to meet the requirements of various state insurance departments.

•  Conducted needs analyses; interviewed subject matter experts; developed templates for subject matter expert input; evaluated usability and effectiveness of instructional materials and programs; and developed maintenance plans and documentation.

•  Created, developed, and presented six training programs related to banking skills, supervision, and management.

•  Developed classroom training follow-up action plan contracts for employees and managers to create accountability for using new skills in work situations.

•  Managed a team of eight bank branch representatives, three production people, and a training consultant to develop a comprehensive three-phase teller training program which included self-study workbooks related to branch reference manuals, an on-the-job trainer's kit, training video, and statistically validated written and performance-based exams.

•  Administered the company's Tuition Reimbursement program.

•  Authored a financial industry workbook to accompany Elwood Chapman's book Supervisor Survival Kit , published by Science Research Associates, Inc. (1983).

•  Applied for copyrights, learned copyright requirements and how to comply with copyright laws.

•  Worked with editors, proofreaders, and printers to prepare manuscripts for publication.

•  Obtained permission from authors and publishers to reprint articles and portions of other published works.

Expert-level computer skills:

•  Develop E-learning using Macromedia Studio MX (Dreamweaver, Flash, and Fireworks).

•  Create screen captures and transaction simulations using software such as RoboDemo E-Learning Edition and SnagIt.

•  Apply advanced features of MS Office Professional programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

•  Manage and track projects using MS Project.

•  Format, hyperlink, and index large .pdf documents using Adobe Acrobat Writer.

•  Use a wide variety of other software such as Photoshop Elements, Corel Draw and Corel PhotoPaint, MS Publisher, Ventura Publisher, and Mind Manager (a mind-mapping design tool.)

•  Learn new software and applications quickly, and apply their advanced features to work situations.

Experienced photographer who uses personal digital images to enhance documentation, presentations, training material and web sites. For example, recently photographed commercial vehicles on the street to use in a web-based training program about quoting commercial auto insurance.
